France-Algeria: Facing the Past on Screen (part 2)

France is faced with uneasy viewing in its cinemas with the release of a film examining the life of three Algerian men in France after the War between the two nations. It is against this historical background, still under dispute, that film director Rachid Bouchareb made the film Hors la Loi. Hors la Loi is the fictional story of three Algerian brothers after 1962, and their passage in France. It follows other recent movies which have dealt with uneasy aspects of French history.
