Last week, in highly publicised reports, both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch questioned the legality of US drone strikes and denounced the large number of civilian casualties in Pakistan and Yemen. But the US government rejected their findings.

Both human rights groups questioned the legality of drone strikes that have killed many civilians, including children. They also said the number of casualties was underestimated. Kenya’s attorney-general Githu Muigai provides some key details into the Westgate mall attack: there were no more than 5 gunmen, all of whom were killed, a dozen accomplices are under arrest and the plot was likely hatched at a refugee camp. He also promises that a commission of inquiry will soon be set up to look into all aspects of the case, after Kenyan security forces were caught on CCTV apparently looting the mall during the attack.
