L'Oreal heiress threatens harassment suit against daughter

Text by News Wires

Latest update : 2010-10-11

"I can no longer accept such harassment by my daughter", wrote L'Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt in a statement made on Sunday in which she said that she is considering taking legal action against her 57-year-old daughter.

AFP - Conflict within the Bettencourt family is growing once again, after L'Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt announced on Sunday that she is considering taking legal action against her daughter for "harassment", according to a handwritten statement.

"I hear yet again from the press that my daughter would appear before a judge of guardianships to appoint a receiver to replace my asset manager," said Ms. Bettencourt.

"I can not accept this harassment, or the fact that it spoils the image of L'Oreal through me or our family," she said in a hand-written statement on headed paper of a large hotel in New York.

"So I instructed my lawyer Mr Wilhelm to take the necessary measures to deal with this harassment," says Ms. Bettencourt.

"We will proceed through all possible channels, civil or criminal proceedings, to end what Ms. Bettencourt considers to be harassment by her daughter," Mr. Pascal Wilhelm told AFP.
