Nobel peace prize: a slap in China's face?

The Chinese government had issued a warning to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee: do not honor an opponent of the regime. Well, this is exactly what happened. The Norwegian jury picked Liu Xiaobao, one of the authors of Chart 08, a manifesto calling for more freedom who was, as a result, sentenced to 11 years in jail for subversion. Predictably, Beijing lashed out, calling the decision 'obscene.'
