A federal appeals court on Wednesday allowed the temporary reinstatement of a ban on openly gay soldiers serving in the military. The US administration wants to scrap the ban but has urged the courts to give the military time for the transition.
The ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco added to the disarray surrounding a landmark legal battle that already has forced the U.S. military to welcome openly gay recruits for the first time.
