G20 Summit: China, the US… and the rest

Was it a G20 or a G2 summit that opened in Seoul? Trade and currency imbalances between the US and China have hogged the headlines out of the South Korean capital. If they don’t tackle those imbalances, the governor of the Bank of England predicts the next 12 months could be "even more difficult and dangerous" than the ones we've just been through.

Already fragile, these groups are increasingly subject to persecution. For many, life is becoming too hard in their native lands and the only option is to leave.

Cancun climate talks - curbing expectations?

We're told it's the biggest threat to humanity today and that hundreds of millions of people are at risk from its effects. So why have so few world leaders turned up to talks on climate change in Cancun this Tuesday? NGOs and environmentalists are pleading with those that did attend not to miss this opportunity for a global deal, but the will to compromise has been severely hit by the economic crisis and expectations for a breakthrough at this round of talks are low.
