Evictions in China, religious tensions in Cyprus and Saudi Arabia’s human pink ribbon record

Derek Thomson presents a news show produced exclusively from content provided by amateurs. Photos, videos and personal accounts from our network of Observers around the world - all checked by our staff in Paris. First run Saturdays at 8:10 am Paris time.

Presentation : Derek Thomson.  Editorial Team : Lorena Galliot, Sarra Grira, Paul Larrouturou, Ségolène Malterre.

STORY 1 : CHINA

We begin with property wars ... in China. With the booming economy there's
been a boom in construction. And for new buildings, you need land. That's
where local government comes in. Under Chinese law, the state owns all land.
So it's up to the local authorities to find the space - often by evicting
tenants who don't want to go.

STORY 2 : CYPRUS

Our next report comes from an Observer who was on vacation on the divided
island of Cyprus. There's a lot of tension there over the issue of migrant
workers coming from the Turkish north into the Greek south. Marie witnessed
an angry confrontation at what was supposed to be a demonstration for
tolerance.

Observer : Marie Martin

STORY 3 : SAUDI ARABIA

Our last Observer today is determined to break records. Not for herself or
her own glory, but to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer.

Observer : Modia Batterjee.
