The Fight Against Female Circumcision
Thursday marks the International Day for the Elimination of violence against Women. We're heading to Uganda for a look at the fight against female circumcision. Lawmakers in the African country have banned the practice. But tradition is strong: one tribal leader has pledged to go ahead with a series of circumcision ceremonies, in defiance of the new law.
Programme prepared by Kate Williams, Marie Billon and Patrick Lovett

The practice must stop
As long as the men continue to prefer a circumcised woman for wife, the practice is likely to continue. Men need to appreciate the woman the way she is ( not circumcised), then the practice will die out.

This Practice must stop
As long as the prefer to marry circumcised women, the practice will not stop. The men need to appreciate a woman as she is (not circumcised), then the practice will die off.

The fight against female circumcision
