“Julian Assange: The web’s Tom Sawyer”

In today’s press review, we focus on Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. He gave himself in yesterday and risks extradition. French papers react. Also in the show: France in 2040 and Eric Cantona’s protest against bank bailouts.

Julian Assange is on the front page of several French newspapers including Libération and Le Figaro. One calls him a “pervert and a delinquent”, the other “the web’s Tom Sawyer”.
 
Meanwhile, Le Monde reveals further secret diplomatic cables. This time, pointing the finger at Tunisia.
 
In other news, Le Parisien published a news study about France’s demographics in 2040. The paper also reports about Eric Cantona’s protest against banks. Note that the former footballer’s wife has appeared in an advert for a French bank…
