Zapatero's austerity measures receive mixed reception

Trade unions across Europe are taking part in coordinated protests on Wednesday to oppose this winter's austerity drives across the continent. Demonstrators say the cuts attack wages and welfare while leaving big business untouched. Spain in particular has come under pressure following the bailout given to Ireland earlier this month. The government has announced a series of anti-crisis measures to try to calm nerves, but the measures have had a mixed reception.
