Hundreds of people detained in Moscow in what authorities say is a move to prevent new outbreaks of ethnic violence. Since the 5.000 demonstrators gathered outside the Kremlin on 11 December to protest the death of a football supporter killed in the 6 December riots by a gang from the Caucasus, the situation has worsened, with daily gangs roaming the streets shouting slogans such as “Russian for Russians”.
