Can Uganda's divided opposition oust Yoweri Museveni from the presidency?
Uganda is holding general elections this Friday, with long-serving Yoweri Museveni facing competition from seven challengers. Museveni has been in power for 25 years, ever since triumphing in a guerilla campaign that overthrew a military dictatorship. His main claims to success are bringing political stability and strong economic growth to the country, but critics say he is an authoritarian figure who has constructed a democratic façade.
