In power for 42 years and intent on staying on. But who is Colonel Gaddafi?
His pariah status may be no more, but given his eccentricities, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi will always be something of a black sheep in international politics. Having been accused of supporting terrorism in the past, he's recently been trying to ingratiate himself back into the fold. That means foreign leaders are now struggling to decide how to respond to the Libyan crisis; as the violence continues, can they speak out against a man whose country has such important economic ties with their own?
