Yiqing Yin

Her name means "after a storm comes calm". We meet Yiqing Yin, a Chinese designer who fled her homeland at the age of four and has just won the City of Paris’ Grand Prize for Design.

Her name means "after a storm comes calm". At the age of four, Yiqing Yin fled Beijing for France with her stowaway parents, her father having supported the Tiananmen student protest movement. In 2010, Yin was awarded the City of Paris’ Grand Prize for Design. She was 25 and the winning collection was called Exile.
