Europe's far-right: why is it gaining ground?

France received a shock this weekend when a new poll showed the far-right leader, Marine Le Pen, winning the first round of France's presidential election. The election, of course, is still over a year away. But it's the latest reminder of the steady gains far-right parties are making across Europe as politicians capitalise on economic woes and worries about immigration.
