“America’s secret plan to arm Libya’s rebels”

In today’s international press review, we focus on reports that the United States allegedly has a secret plan to arm Libya’s rebels. According to opposition figure Hadi Shalluf, Colonel Gaddafi paid around 60,000 foreign mercenaries to silence protesters.

The Independent’s Robert Fisk claims the US has asked Saudi Arabia to supply weapons to rebels in Benghazi.

Voice of America interviewed Hadi Shalluf, leader of the opposition and international lawyer. He is compiling evidence against Muammar Gaddafi and is planning on sending the files to the International Criminal Court.

Meanwhile, the International Herald Tribune reports about Egyptian women demanding more rights.

In other news, The Guardian focuses on the former French President Jacques Chirac and his corruption trial that’s expected to start today.

The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph also report about another political scandal in the UK, involving Prince Andrew.

And finally, The Sun and The Times wonder who is going to design Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.
