French Papers critical of Sarkozy "going solo" on the Libya issue

According to the French press, Sarkozy is putting himself on the line by officially recognising the embattled Libyan rebels. Though journalists had been critical weaknesses in French diplomacy at the beginning of the Arab spring, they’re not greeting this latest development open. Meanwhile, DSK’s allies hope he’ll be able to avoid the Socialist primaries.

Mr Sarkozy to step down

By his much irresponsible claim on the goverment in Libya Mr Sarkozy has violated
THE TREATY ON EUROPEAN UNION AND THE TREATY ON THE FUNCTIONING
OF THE EUROPEAN UNION CONSOLIDATED VERSIONS, so Mr Sarkozy's stepping down is now unavoidable as UE can't accept violations of its own treaties by its own leaders, even presidents of France.

TITLE V GENERAL PROVISIONS ON THE UNION’S EXTERNAL ACTION AND SPECIFIC PROVISIONS ON THE COMMON FOREIGN AND SECURITY POLICY
CHAPTER 1 GENERAL PROVISIONS ON THE UNION’S EXTERNAL ACTION

2. The Union shall define and pursue common policies and actions, and shall work for a high
degree of cooperation in all fields of international relations.

Badly enough, Mr Sarkozy had violated the legal fundametals of common foreign policy.
