Help Japanese survivors. Buy art.

Artists in Los Angeles are organizing an art show called “Pray for Japan” in a bid to help Japan. The country has been hit by an earthquake and a tsunami three days ago, killing scores of people and wiping entire areas off the map. The international community is worried about the nuclear accident at the Fukushima power plant. Several explosions have occurred and a fuel pond burst into flames this morning...

 

The nuclear threat in Japan is making the front page of most international papers this morning, including The Independent (UK), The Wall Street Journal (Asia), La Stampa (Italy), The Times, USA Today and Mainichi RT (Japan).
 
Japan Times is highly critical of Japanese authorities, accusing them of failing to implement the necessary safeguards. Asahi Shimbun is calling for more transparency whilst The Guardian quotes US cables released by Wikileaks, stating that the Japanese Government has been covering up nuclear accidents in the past.

Dong A llebo (South Korea) reports about a four-month old baby who’s been stuck under the rubble for three days and who is now safe and sound.

And finally, the blog JapanLA calls for help.
