Cameron told lawmakers Friday that Britain will join a U.N.-authorized operation to stop Moammar Gadhafi from launching “a brutal attack using air, land and sea forces” on the rebel-held city of Benghazi.
Cameron says the move is about saving lives and protecting people in Libya and insists it was “not about choosing the government of Libya.”
Britain, France and NATO were holding emergency meetings Friday after the United Nations approved a no-fly zone over Libya. Cameron says Britain, France and Arab nations are to meet Saturday in Paris on no-fly zone.

Leadership
Good.Just another example of inept,self-righteous,inept idiocracy. Then there's America who didn't vote for the obamanauts. That's the America you're looking for. You'll recall the idiocracy is starting to attack us(Black Panthers,SEIU,sec8's,loonies like Loughner)
To the Western allies:Thank you for showing the dangerous element within American politics.Yes,I'm well aware of the soviet component banished from Russia in 1991,by the Christians.
obama and the arabs
he is looking forward to 2012 and hoping to get the arab vote if he stays out of these deals in the middle east. from now on what he does is about getting reelected in 2012. he just not want to go down in history as a one term president
This time it really is a war
This time it really is a war over oil.
Barry
present-dent Barry Obumbles - absent as usual. Vacation to Brazil you know. Priorities people, priorities.
Missiles
So all but one tomahawks come from US ships. France is directing US forces?
Send them a bill for our ships and missiles.
We do not need to spend money on this. It is of no interest to the US. The Libyans can kill themselves off. They are not looking for Democracy any more than Egypt.
Respect!
I've found a new respect for France, being 'first in'. YEA FRANCE!!!
France-England in charge
I wouldnt let obama serve the fighting personal coffee
Europe's Blood For Oil war
France and GB should be taking the lead.
After all, *their* Blood For Oil war, is going to benefit them the most with North Africa's oil fields at stake for Shell, etc., so why shouldn't they be taking the lead?
France and UK spearhead no-fly zone
The US needs to sit this one out and let Brits and the French take down this dictator. Especially since the French did so much to undermine the US regarding Iraq
France and UK head no fly zone
I am puzzled and angry that the Egyptian fighter planes (trained by the USA military) and the Saudi fighter jets (trained by the USA military) are not part of this coalition. Why are you not jumping in to help your Muslim brothers? Then the West gets portrayed as "crusaders" while we save your skins. And if you want to be saved then we should start charging you for our military time, bombs, aircraft carriers and ammunition. Really this is getting to be OLD. Save yourselves instead of calling us for help. Shall we send the bill to Saudi Arabia? They owe us more than they are worth. Arabs stand up and have some guts.
Libya
Charles pretty much nailed it here. Moving on.....
UK
Obama has shown such weakness that the UK and France are having to lead the way. If this had been WWII we would all be speaking German and Japanese. It's embarrassing having such a WIMP for our president.
Libya
This will be great. Let's allow some others countries of the world to police for awhile and see how they enjoy it.
Having said that....I think Obama isn't thinking along those lines. He just isnt thinking at all.
Don't arab-muslim countries
Don't arab-muslim countries have any fighter planes?
Hey Obama!
Put down that Marguerita in your hand in Rio and get your arse back into the game. Do something for once in your worthless presidency. (On second thought, maybe you should just stay where you are).
US stays out
Good, let Europe deal with this. I'm one American that's sick and tired of our resources being used for worldwide problems, wars and skirmishes only to be trashed for decades for doing so.
No American Leadership now
Soory but Thankful to UK and France! Sorry that we really cannot support you on this one and have been absent for the past 2 years and will be for 2 more. Right now we have a VACATIONER in cheif. Hope in 2 years we can be back and help support our friends around the world. In the mean time our president and administration are golfing , having parties and on vacation..
Clinton/Libya Bush/Iraq
“Qadhafi must go,” Sillary Clinton said, calling him “a ruthless dictator that has no conscience and will destroy anyone or anything in his way.” If he does not go, she added, “he will just make trouble – that is just his nature, there are some creatures that are like that.”
Was she paraphrasing Pres. Bush in 2001?
“Saddam Hussein the Butcher of Baghdad and his two evil sons must go,” BUSH said, calling him “a ruthless dictator that has no conscience and will destroy anyone or anything in his way.” If he does not go, he added, “he will just make trouble – that is just his nature, there are some creatures that are like that.”
Question To Chirac (who threatened a UN veto to Pres. Bush's proposal so it was never voted on) - and to all Chirac's supporters:
Was the IRAQ war now A-OK?
UK and France no fly
Hopefully the Russian AA works as sold. This way we'll
know how well the Muslims can take out Airbus A380 flying into
Europe.
Yes, they should
Yes, France and UK (not necessarily in that order), should. France sold all those weapons to Libya, it is only just and proper that it should retrieve them back. Its incursions in Africa has given it a black-eye for human rights. As for England, it has lost its empire and people are starving in England because of Cameron's mismanagement. Invade Libya to divert the people's attention. These duo remind me of Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Alice in Wonderland is written by an Irish. Remember, the British has oppressed the Irish people all these centuries and nobody cries in alarm. Cromwell slaughterd 15,000 Irish in one day. Ah, to be in England! Old Europe, as what Rumsfield said after France gave the coalition French leave, you know, because in spite of the fact that france authored the so-called no-fly zone resolution to the UN vs. Saddam Hussein they joined the sorority of the weasel. I cannot blame Khaddafi if he outsmarts everybody and he seems to be doing just that.
No Fly, Libya
If th4 UK and France are leading on this, then why is the Main Stream Media in the U.S.A. saying Obama has thrown down the Gauntlet to Lybia like he is leading the way. He has stayed hidden in the Whitehouse until someone else made a decision and then, as usual, comes and tries to take the glory. What a total Loser.

Libya
I can't think of a single thing I have agreed with Obama on until this action. The US has taken a PR beating for years when they have acted as the world's policeman. Our back is getting sore. It's time to let Europe carry some of the load for awhile.
Libya
it is about time someone else steped up to the plate and not relying only on the U.S.
Dont' Expect the US to be of any help
Don't Expect the US to be of any help. Not that the people do not want to help but our leadership (President Dumbo) is the biggest wimp on the planet. We (US) used to be leaders in the free world, now we have to resign ourselves to be a follower Nation.
Good Luck, France & UK.
No-fly Zone
I'm so glad that France and the UK took charge and spearhead the 'no-fly zone' in Libya while our “White House Resident” is indisposed. He's been so overworked lately by playing golf, and picking Basketball teams, and watching MTV to join much of the action that needs attention in the world. Sorry … maybe next time….
Move over U.S.A.
Just like that, the U.S. forsakes it's leadership role in the World.
On behalf of my countrymen, I apologize to the World for America's first failed black president.
What took so long ?
So what took so long? Shouldn't it be the responsibility of the Europeans to take care of their back yard? The United States can't do it all, all of the time. So from the Yanks to the Euro's, thanks. Your younger brother across the pond thanks you for stepping it up and acting the older brother....for a change.
Libya
There are those in the U.S. where I live who are critical of Obama for a failure of leadership in this instance. I agree with that position insofar as he has not articulated a position vis-a-vis Libya until late in the game, thus, apparently, frustrating Hillary Clinton greatly.
On the other hand, events in Libya are of great moment to Europeans more than Americans, as were the events in Kosovo in the 1990's when the Europeans mainly sat it out. European NATO allies have depended on the U.S. military (and the U.S. treasury which provides the money) far too long. The military budgets of the European allies do not reflect the true cost of defending their homelands. Financial problems in the U.S. - and basic morality - demand that this situation change.
So, while I am critical of Obama for dithering, this Libyan crisis may, perhaps, compel the Europeans to shoulder a more appropriate measure of responsibility for their own neighborhood, even if their main goal is to prevent a horde of Arabs from descending on them.
