France - local elections: the far-right forges ahead

The first round of the local elections last Sunday in France produced one big winner: the far-right National Front, which garnered 15% of the votes. This is its best performance ever in such elections and a major boost for its new leader, Marine Le Pen, just over one year before the presidential poll.
