German chancellor Angela Merkel is in trouble. Her conservative party lost an important regional election last Sunday in Bade-Wurtemberg, this being the latest in a series of disappointing election results. The Free Liberal Party is shrinking with each new poll and its leader, FM Guido Westerwelle, is the target of widespread criticism.
