“Guéant: controlled controversy on immigration”
FRENCH PAPERS, Fri. 08/04/11, Immigration is the hot topic of the day in the French press, after Interior Minister Claude Guéant’s recent “gaff”. He told Figaro Magazine he wants to reduce legal immigration. Many papers say this is a political strategy to grab votes from the far right in the run up to the 2012 presidential election. Which candidates from other parties will run in the race for the Elysée Palace is also the big issue of the day.
