Gulf of Mexico still struggling to recover, one year after oil spill
It's been exactly a year since the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, killing 11 people and spilling 780 million litres of oil into the sea in the Gulf of Mexico. While cleaner beaches might suggest things are getting back to normal, residents say life is anything but. Although some fisherman and others are still trying to eke out a living from the sea, locals say the area is yet to recover fully.

I watch France 24 online from the states to avoid partisan rhetoric such as is often seen on US television. Your professor from Miami was veering into political commentary, when we want him to remain in the realm of environmental and or economic commentary. I would discourage him from doing so or find another commentator.
