A post-nuclear world?
Are renewable sources really the answer to Germany's nuclear U-turn, a decision that has left a gaping hole in the energy landscape? This week’s show asks how the world will cope if nuclear continues to fall out of favour.
We start with Berlin’s pledge to bridge the energy gap with sources such as wind and solar.
Next we head to the Netherlands, where the town of Heerlen is heating up thanks to an abandoned coal mine transformed into a source of geothermal power.
