Food aid budget slashed - but not because of a lack of money
The European Commission is under fire for cutting the budget to the EU's food aid programme by 77%. Where once 500 million euros were set aside to help feed people who couldn't afford to eat, that's now been reduced to just over 100 million euros. But it's not because of a lack of money: rather, the International Court of Justice says the food handed out has to come from European stocks.
