Newspaper sacrificed to save one woman

Fleet Street reacts to the closure of one of their own - with sympathy for the sacked News of the World journalists, sadness at the end of the 168-year-old paper, and anger at the news that Rebekah Brooks remains in her job.

There's shock and anger at the closure of the News of the World - the Guardian calls the move breathtakingly cynical and says the scandal could still spread to Rupert Murdoch's profitable American media empire, while the Telegraph worries it could spark new state regulation for newspapers - bad news for press freedom.

And in other news, the Washington Post laments the loss of the space shuttle.

Rebekah Brookes...

I would love to know just what she has, or does, to make her so indispensable.

I for one am into red heads, but am savvy enough to realise most women, despite the colour of their crowning glory, unless they have serious hang ups over their sexual capabilities, or liberalities, are pretty well much of a muchness, but whatever it is that this 'carrot top' has got going for her, perhaps I could have some of it.

Then again,

Her whole character seems to be rather toxic, going on what the rest of the media has commented about her.
