French papers wake up to phone hacking
On Wednesday, the French papers started to realise something big may have happened in the British Parliament - and claimed that in France, no one person could ever exert such control over the media. Also, debate rages about whether France's troops in Afghanistan died for nothing, and the papers lament the unseasonably terrible weather.

Le Figaro leads on the memorial held for seven French soldiers who died in Afghanistan - saying they died honorably defending French values - while l'Humanité takes the opposite view, saying they died for nothing - because that's all the French intervention in Afghanistan has achieved.
Liberation meanwhile is shocked that Rupert Murdoch could have so much influence over the British media, saying it would never happen in France - while Le Monde compares the phone hacking scandal to the subprimes crisis.
Le Parisien, though is more concerned about the weather.
