Market mayhem: doubt hangs heavy in eurozone

Extreme volatility is rocking global stock markets. France, more than most, has been at the mercy of huge swings. Nicolas Sarkozy is back in Paris doing all he can to reassure investors that his government is on course to cut the deficit.
