THE DEBATE

A live debate on the topic of the day, with four guests. From Monday to Thursday at 7.10 pm Paris time.

Latest update : 2011-08-16

Market mayhem: doubt hangs heavy in the eurozone (part 2)

Extreme volatility is rocking global stock markets. France, more than most, has been at the mercy of huge swings. Nicolas Sarkozy is back in Paris doing all he can to reassure investors that his government is on course to cut the deficit. Laura Baines and her guests discuss whether all this will be enough to restore investor confidence, or if the skepticism surrounding the fate of the eurozone as a whole is justified.

  • Philippe D’ARVISENET, Associate professor of economics, Paris II University
  • Sony KAPOOR, Managing Director, Re-Define (re-define.org: an international think tank advising policy makers on financial and economic issues)
  • Fabrizio CORICELLI, Professor of economics, Paris School of economics
