AP - Vincent Clerc scored his 25th international try as France withstood an Ireland comeback to win 19-12 in a Rugby World Cup warm-up on Saturday.
Clerc moved into third place on France’s all-time list of tryscorers, and eight tries have come against Ireland in as many matches.
France looked in complete control at 13-3 ahead at halftime, but let Ireland back into the match. Veteran flyhalf Ronan O’Gara slotted three straight penalties and then missed a chance to put Ireland ahead.
After O’Gara missed his penalty, scrumhalf Dimitri Yachvili nailed two penalties to put France out of reach with little time remaining.
Ireland, which lost to France in the Six Nations, hosts France in Dublin next weekend.
