Social Media: Cameron's Double Standards
UK Prime Minister is among a number of high profile western leaders who touted the role of social media in holding all governments accountable during the Arab Spring. Now, in the wake of the riots in the UK, the PM says it may be necessary to jam social networks during times of emergency. Critics contend Cameron's position is nothing short of hypocrisy.

Technology Not At Fault
I am amazed at how social media has been or is being blamed for the social disturbances in various parts of the world in general and the UK in particular.
It is not how people / vandals / looters mobilised each other that should be the focus of the authorities but rather the cause of the need to mobilise and take action. So the authorities trying to blame blackberry messenger for the riots especially because they took place at a time when they (authorities) where not aware I guess then they should explain how they are using public funds to collect intelligence, innocent citizens where victimised as a result of authorities being asleep.
Just a question "After the Long March in China" Did someone think of producing people without legs so that Marching as a form of protest would never take place or even moreso be used to change the system of governance? I hope not so.
So instead of trying to gag the Social media platforms, I suggest the authorities find a way to use the same media and technology to their advantage. If all else fails let me just suggest going back to the stone age.
