Liveblog: NTC supporters in clashes with Gaddafi loyalists

Latest update : 2011-08-25

Muammar Gaddafi remains in hiding Thursday, as parts of Tripoli hold out in last attempt to stop NTC supporters consolidating their grip on the Libyan capital. Follow all the action as it happens on our liveblog.

Key updates:
  • Rebels control most of Tripoli but there are still pockets of resistance.
  • Gaddafi’s location remains unknown, but in an audio tape released last night he vowed "martyrdom or victory" and called for his supporters to purge Tripoli of traitors.
  • Some 35 foreigners, most of them journalists, have been released from the Rixos hotel where they were being held by forces loyal to Gaddafi.
