Could a former al-Qaeda insurgent be running Tripoli?

Friday's French papers take a look at whether British and French special forces are helping hunt down Gaddafi - despite official denials - and report that a former al-Qaeda member may be leading the anti-Gaddafi forces in Tripoli. In other news, the Socialist Party holds its summer conference - under the shadow of Dominique Strauss-Kahn

Le Figaro reports that it has evidence there are French and British special forces on the ground in Tripoli - despite official denials.

Liberation claims that the man in charge of anti-Gaddafi forces in the city is a former al-Qaeda jihadist who fought the US in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile Le Parisien says the knives are out at the French socialists' summer party conference.
