Kosovo: broken bridges (part 2)

The kanun are a set of ancient Albanian laws which are still followed in some rural parts of Kosovo - we show you how the tradition of blood feuds has shattered the lives of entire families. We also tell you why religious parties are seeking to challenge Kosovo’s secular constitution. Finally, Nerimane Kamberi, a Kosovan author, takes us through the streets of the capital Pristina.

Kosovo: seeking recognition (part 2)

In the second part of the show, we tell you the stories of asylum seekers and former refugees forced to return to Kosovo after spending years in the EU, we show you how the current status of Kosovo prevents many Kosovar athletes from taking part in international competitions, and we take you for a walk through the streets of Prizren, Kosovo's "cultural capital".

Kosovo: seeking recognition (part 1)

In the first part of the show, we travel to the ethnically divided city of Mitrovica, we talk to incumbent PM Hashim Thaci about Kosovo's quest for recognition and we discuss a recent Council of Europe report linking Kosovo's ruling elite with an organ trafficking ring. And last but not least, a tour of Istanbul by night with Turkish actress Serra Yilmaz.

Turkey: bridging East and West (part 1)

Straddling the continents of Europe and Asia, this vast, mainly-Muslim country started accession negotiations with the EU in 2005. Its candidacy continues to divide EU members but Turkey will "patiently pursue its path", Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told Europe District. Watch his interview and see our reports on prison reforms and the success of Turkish TV series at home and in the Middle East.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: healing ethnic divides (part 2)

In the second part of the programme, we travel to the town of Srebrenica, the scene of the worst massacre in Europe since World War II. Fifteen years later, the wounds are too fresh within the Muslim community to hope for reconciliation with the Serbs, despite attempts on both sides to reach out to the other. For the Croat member of the Bosnian Presidency, exacerbated nationalism is not the right answer. We met him in Sarajevo before heading to Mostar for a tour of the city.
