Jean-Charles de Castelbajac / Nouvelle Vague

Fashion is far more exciting when it branches out into other fields – for instance, at a fashionable arts venue.

The ‘cent-quatre’ used to house the City of Paris’ funeral department. Now, it hosts concerts by cool music outfits like Nouvelle Vague, and top French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac can’t get enough of their sound! Nouvelle Vague is an alternative French group that owes its success to covers of New Wave hits with a bossa-nova twist. Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, a fashion designer, who’s always been into rock’n’roll, decided to take a fresh look at them. Castelbajac has always worked with simple shapes featuring mass-market patterns and logos or iconic portraits. Today, he’s updated them but the ghosts of the 1980s are still alive.
