Marseille’s House of Design walks the fine line between creative design and the fashion business – with success.
We're in Marseille, a few steps away from the city’s Old Port, at its House of Design. It's hosting the second edition of its Young Fashion Entrepreneurs Award, focusing on fresh talent from the Mediterranean Basin. For the next six months, the contest’s eight winners will meet once a month, for a week-long study programme, featuring key players from the world of luxury ready-to-wear. Each winner has to work on a special piece that will become part of the House of Design’s permanent collection. In this way, the House of Design helps introduce young fashion entrepreneurs to the Mediterranean market. In the long run, this could help to counteract sales offensives from Asia or Brazil.
