Triple bombings target Shiite Muslims
Three coordinated bombings struck Shiite pilgrims in Afghanistan on Tuesday. The attacks came as Shiites marked the Ashura holy day, a commemoration of the death of the Prophet Mohammed's grandson Hussein. The violence represents a watershed for Afghanistan, which had until now been relatively free from sectarian violence between its Sunni majority and Shiite minority.
