Fresh scandal hits the Socialists

A fresh corruption scandal hits the Socialist party - while Nicolas Sarkozy's old rival Dominique de Villepin announces he will be running in next year's presidential election. The papers also react to last week's eurozone deal - but can't agree on whether it's good for France.

The Socialist Party has been hit by another corruption scandal, involving a mayor in the north of France - and giving the right wing Le Figaro plenty of ammunition.

Liberation headlines on the diversity of the Socialists' parliamentary candidates - saying they've finally woken up the need to represent ethnic minorities.

And the business papers can't agree on whether the new eurozone deal is good or bad for France - La Tribune says it shows the way out of the crisis, while Les Echos reckons the road is still rocky ahead.
