Corteo by Cirque du Soleil

Corteo, the most theatrical show of Cirque du Soleil

By Media TV

In 1984, Cirque de Soleil was a theatre ensemble starting out on the streets of Quebec. Today its home to more than 1400 artists who captivate audiences worldwide. The Corteo show now on tour here in Paris, has 62 performers, dressed in 260 costumes, made from more 900 different fabrics. Corteo is inspired by the Italian arts...from 16th century Comedia dell’arte...to the more modern films of Fellini. Silk crape costumes help make the acrobat’s movements appear even more fluid. But what the audience doesn’t see, is that each artist is fitted with an elastic body harness. The key to the costumes is in the details...intricate steps that are invisible to the audience.
The Corteo ensemble can be seen in France through January.
