It's extra fuel for partisanship on the front pages of two of the main papers: Libération knocks Sarkozy for placing his supporters in key positions, while Le Figaro slams Hollande for groping in the dark. Some stories from today's French press review:

Le Parisien/Aujourd’hui-en-France headlines: “Unemployment - the candidates’ proposals”. Unemployment in France is now the highest in 12 years after 30,000 more jobless signed on in November. The paper's two-page report argues this is now a key campaign issue.

Les Echos: “De-industrialisation – almost 900 factories have closed in France in three years”.

Le Figaro front page editorial: “Socialist Party - the year of two disappearances”.

Libération: “Four months from the presidential election, Sarkozy places his supporters”

And the Catholic daily La Croix leads with a good news story: “Improvement in the care for the homeless”.
