Who are Florida's Hispanic voters really?

In today's pick of the international press, we look at what game Russia is playing in Syria, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich's attacks on Fidel Castro (and whether voters care) and why François Hollande is making headlines in the UK.

The New York Times says Russia's defence on Syria isn't really about money - it's about the Kremlin's need to be taken seriously as an international power.

In the same paper, Andrew Rosenthal looks at Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich's increasingly extreme comments on Fidel Castro. But The Atlantic says Hispanic voters are more concerned about immigration issues than about Cuba.

Jeune Afrique says Abdoulaye Wade can afford not to worry about protests in Senegal - he'll probably win the election anyway.

And François Hollande is set to visit London soon, hoping to court the 400,000 French voters who live there, according to the Guardian - but the Times is worried his policies are dangerous to the City.
