'The unbearable Mr. Guéant'

Interior minister Claude Guéant is making headlines again today, for all the wrong reasons - this time it's after he said not all civilisations were equal, provoking fury on the left. We also look at the political comeback of Ségolène Royal - who is campaigning for her ex.

Le Figaro leads Claude Guéant's defence - he tells them he does not regret his remarks, and attacks "the left's attachment to multiculturalism".

Le Parisien has a list of some of the other controversial remarks he's made on immigration and Islam recently - and there have been plenty.

Liberation have surveyed people who describe themselves as working class - and say that while Sarkozy's support has died faster here than in any other income group, it's not necessarily Marine Le Pen who's winning at his expense.

The Socialist candidate at the last election, Ségolène Royal, is also back in the papers today - telling Liberation she'll back her ex François Hollande all the way.
