Hale, Blair discuss Mideast peace in Jordan
AFP - Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh held talks on Monday with US envoy David Hale and Middle East peace Quartet envoy Tony Blair to seek "a suitable climate" for direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
"The officials discussed the outcome of the recent Israeli-Palestinian exploratory meetings in Amman in order to find a suitable climate and environment to start direct talks," Jordan's state-run Petra news agency reported.
Last month's five rounds of talks between Israeli and Palestinian negotiators, sponsored by the peacemaking Quartet, ended without a deal to continue discussions or return to direct negotiations.
The Palestinians have accused Israel of failing to present proposals on borders and security called for by the Quartet, which groups the United Nations, United States, European Union and Russia.
