Syrian opposition council re-elects chairman

The opposition Syrian National Council has re-elected Burhan Ghalioun (pictured) as its chairman, a senior member of the group said on Wednesday.

REUTERS - Opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad re-elected Burhan Ghalioun as head of the Syrian National Council, a senior member of the body said after a meeting in the Qatari capital Doha on Wednesday.

Opposition leaders last month agreed at a meeting in Istanbul to give Ghalioun a one-month extension as head of the council after earlier rejecting a draft accord he had signed with a rival opposition group.

Syrians should understand leaders appointed outside Syria have no standing in Syria.
By the way how many candidates were standing opposite him in this re-election

That the guy has to be re-elected in Qatar reveals the treacherous role being played by Qatar in the Syrian insurgency.
