Marie Colvin, in her own words

We look at tributes to Marie Colvin, the Sunday Times war correspondent killed this week in Syria - and why it's still important for war correspondents to cover this kind of conflict, in her own words.

The Times, the sister paper to Marie Colvin's, leads the tributes - with her editor telling them she was one of the most driven and dedicated journalists he's even known.

The Guardian republishes a story she wrote herself about why it's necessary - even in the era of video blogs and 24 hour rolling news - for correspondents to physically take risks, without whom we would know nothingabout what's really going on in Syria.

The New York Times calls this 'the first YouTube war' saying that Syrian citizen journalists are also reporting vital information - and taking great risks.

The Independent looks at the political rivalry between Julia Gillard and Kevin Rudd - and how it mostly suits the opposition.

La Repubblica says Italy's new cabinet has marked a world first by publishing all their own tax returns - and a lot of them are millionaires.
