Teachers don't work hard enough, says Sarkozy

Teachers are front page news today, as both main candidates appeal to the teacher vote - or, in Sarkozy's case, the votes of parents who think their children's teachers don't work hard enough.

Sarkozy gave a key speech this week saying teachers should work longer hours to earn more - but Libération says they've got hold of his speech text, and he missed a sentence - where he'd planned to partially reverse his policy of only replacing half of all teachers who retire.

Le Figaro says teachers don't work long enough hours anyway - while Le Monde says Sarkozy feels comfortable attacking them, as they don't plan to vote for him anyway.

Meanwhile, Le Parisien is more interested in Ikea - who have apparently been spying on their staff.

FRENCH PAPERS, Tues. 02 /04/13: French papers focus on what they call a "historic" football match tonight between PSG and FC Barcelona. Le Parisien likens it to a David vs. Goliath scenario, while sports daily L’Equipe says the real winner of the match is Qatar. The Kingdom owns PSG and is a big investor in Barcelona FC. Meanwhile, Le Figaro says it’s time for Hollande to reshuffle his government.
