"This election is a farce"

In today's pick of the international press - what's at stake in the Iranian election, what's next for the Syrian opposition pushed out of Homs, and is this the beginning of the end for Vladimir Putin?

Foreign Policy magazine explains how the Syrian opposition is trying to organise itself and regroup after it was pushed out of Homs - but is still riven with sectarian tension.

The Guardian says the Iranian election is being boycotted by the opposition - and has turned into a personal clash between President Ahmedinejad and Ayatollah Khamenei.

The Economist say that even though he'll win this election, this is the beginning of the end of the Putin era - while the Times takes a look at some of the odd characters who've joined the movement against him.
