World Water Forum: thirst for change
This week we're in the French city of Marseille for the 6th World Water Forum. Over 25,000 leaders, experts and volunteers are gathering to discuss how to approach the most critical and endangered resource of all time: water.
Lake Poyang is no longer China's largest freshwater lake. Drought and dams have all but dried it up entirely. It now rests at only 5% of its former glory.
Next, we look at a bitter feud in the West Bank, as Israelis and Palestinians battle for rights to the Jordan river. A French parliamentary report recently accused Israel of "water apartheid".
Finally, the Seine cleans up its act. Wild salmon have returned to Paris' iconic river, a sign it is less polluted than before. But experts tell us there's still a long way to go before we can eat fish caught in Paris, and swim in the river's waters.
