Can soap operas change social mores?

Today we look at the increased pressure to pull out of Afghanistan after the weekend's killings, reactions to the renewed violence in Gaza, and Turkish soap operas.

The Egypt Independent ask what's wrong with Egypt's justice system, after the doctor responsible for notorious 'virginity tests' was acquitted.

The Jerusalem Post says Israel's new Iron Dome system has made it more relaxed about missile attacks - so why, asks Haaretz, do the air strikes continue?
