Candidates face off over law and order

In today's French papers, Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande face off over who can be the toughest on crime.

Le Figaro says the left's reaction to the Toulouse shootings shows they are still idealistic and naive about law and order, while Liberation says Sarkozy is responsible for the mistakes made by the intelligence services.

The papers are also looking at rumours Liliane Bettencourt's fund manager illegally financed Sarkozy's 2007 campaign - and just how much France's best-paid CEOs earn.
